The Partnership

Join the Partnership

Membership is nonfinancial. Individuals sign a statement of support; municipalities join by an adopted resolution of the governing authority.

The statement of support

A Supporting Member signs a statement of support for the Partnership's policy position, the Mississippi Municipal Revenue Modernization Plan:

  • Verify municipal allocations, so each municipality receives what current law already directs.
  • Phase the ordinary municipal share to 30 percent over six years, with a revenue pause.
  • Modernize defined uses of the existing municipal use-tax pool.
  • Require public accountability for the receipts and their uses.

Signing is an individual act. An official's individual membership is individual support, and it is never presented as municipal action.

Municipalities: the resolution route

A city or town becomes a Member Municipality when its governing authority adopts a resolution supporting the Partnership's policy position. The municipality is published only after the resolution is received, reviewed, and approved.

The model resolution is published as a draft, pending Steering Committee review, alongside the municipal briefing packet. Confirm the final version before a governing authority takes it up for adoption.

How to submit an adopted resolution

  1. Download the model resolution and take it to your governing authority with the municipal briefing packet.
  2. Adopt it in an open meeting of the governing authority.
  3. Email the adopted, executed resolution as a PDF to resolutions@msrevenuepartnership.org.
  4. You receive an acknowledgment that the resolution has been received.
  5. A Partnership administrator reviews the resolution and uploads the verified document.
  6. The municipality appears in the member directory with its resolution number, adoption date, and a public link to the resolution.

Questions about the route can also go through the secure contact form.

Adopt the model resolution, become a Member Municipality, and have your resolution included in the statewide public record of support.
